Do I need to arrange buildings insurance for my property?

Last Update 2 years ago

No, a buildings insurance policy is taken out for the whole building. Leaseholders do not have to arrange their own individual buildings insurance, this is usually done by the freeholder or us, but you will require your own contents insurance.

Buildings insurance is normally included in the budget so you will see the contribution there or in the lease. Sometimes it is invoiced separately.

Very occasionally, a lease does require the individual leaseholders to take out buildings insurance so please check this carefully.
